Feelings
Feelings are peculiar things.
They can sweep us off our feet in moutain top moments.
They can feel as though they are drowning us in the valleys in between.
They are fickle. They are fleeting.
And can I tell you this, my friend? They are everywhere.
Today's a good example of why we can't find our truths in our feelings. Just today I learned life changing news for families that we love.
Around 10 a.m. - One friend found out that their cancer journey is over. They are CANCER FREE! The highest of mountain tops where you can almost touch heaven... YES! We were all there. What a momentous day it was. Surely God made this day! Right?
Then, around noon- without skipping a beat, life brought us the news that a family friend lost their child. The silence was deafening. The feelings all consuming. The internal chatter screaming. What do we do with a day like this?
In the middle of the messiness of life on this side of heaven, friends, the only truths I know are the ones God speaks to me. He knew I'd forget and question those along the way, so He put them in a Love Letter for me. Before life acted like life, He wanted me to choose His word as my truth.
He never waivers. He wants me to rest assured that the same God of 10 a.m. is the same God of noon today.
We simply have to choose Him, friends. We choose Him on the mountaintops when the world feels like it's ours. We choose Him in the valleys when we don't even know how to pray.
We decide on our truths and we proclaim them like there's no tomorrow; because the truth is, we don't know what tomorrow holds. We only know Who holds it.
"Your worst days are never so bad that you are beyond the reach of God’s grace. And your best days are never so good that you are beyond the need of God’s grace." - J. Bridges
We need Him always.
"He has made everything beautiful in its time. Moreover, He has set eternity in their heart... "
Ecc. 3:11
Feelings matter because they draw us to the One who created us.
They were never meant to dictate our walks, but always meant to draw us closer to His.
